Please read these terms carefully and check our website for the latest version. We make every effort to ensure your pet’s stay is a happy one. All care and attention will be taken to ensure your pet’s health, safety and welfare whilst in our care. However, all pets are placed in our care entirely at the owner’s risk as there are always some things beyond our control. Where we do have any reasonable concerns or have identified possible risks then we do reserve the right to refuse admission or remove your pet from our care.
1. Pet Behaviour
Please notify us of any problems or undesirable behaviours your pet may have. Any damage or extra cost incurred by us by you not advising us of known problems will be payable by the pet owner.
2. Pet Health
Every precaution to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all pets in our care will be taken. We will take immediate action if a pet appears unwell either by consulting our own local vet or in some circumstances we may contact the pet’s usual vet for advice. We will require the pet owner to pay any vet costs we incur due to sickness, injury or unexpected death. We also require that you advise us of any existing medical conditions your pet may have or treatment that it is receiving. Any medication to be administered during your pet’s stay with us must be left in clearly marked containers with instructions. Flea and worm treatments must be up to date on your pet’s arrival. If we administer any flea and worm treatment to your pet this will be at our discretion and you agree to pay our costs for doing this.
3. Pet Vaccinations
Only pets with up-to-date vaccination certificates will be accepted. A copy of these must be presented on or before arrival.
Dogs must be fully inoculated against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza and Kennel Cough, and must have had a booster injection or vaccine within the previous twelve months prior to your pet’s arrival. With the exception of DHPPi which may be effective for up to 3yrs. If your pet is overdue for vaccination, innoculations must take place at least 7 days prior to your pets arrival.
Cats must be fully inoculated against Feline infectious enteritis, Feline viral rhinotracheitis (Feline Herpes Virus) and Feline calicivirus, and must have had a booster injection that is current according to the vet that provided the innoculations. Some will require annual boosters while others are 3 or 5 yearly. Check with your vet if you are unsure. If your cat is overdue for vaccination it must be done at least 7 days prior to boarding.
Your pet must also have had flea treatment within the month prior to boarding and have been wormed within the past 3-6 months (depening on the product you use).
4. Grooming Services
Grooming and bath services will be provided to your pet at our discretion. However we accept no responsibility for any reaction your pet may have to the products we use, unless you have first advised us of any pre-existing skin condition.
5. Bedding, toys & treats
All pets are provided with suitable bedding, however, should your pet prefer to bring their own bedding this must be in a clean condition and clearly labelled. We will endeavour to keep your pet’s personal belongings in good condition but all items are left at the pet owner’s risk and we accept no responsibility for loss or damage.
6. Drop off & Collection Times
Sunday to Friday — 8:00 AM to 5.00 PM
Saturday — 8:00 AM to 4.00 PM
All pets must arrive not less than 30 minutes before we close to give them time to settle in.
Please note we are closed Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday.
If collecting your pets before 11.00 AM on the day of departure there will be no charge for that day, collection after 11am is a full chargeable day. **excluding peak season - see below**
Should you be unable to collect your pet in person then you must notify us in advance and your representative must bring proof of identity and final payment before your pet will be released. If we are transporting your pet for any reason then we will take every possible care but accept no liability for loss or injury.
7. PEAK SEASON
During peak season, day of arrival and departure day are chargable regardless of time. Payment is required for booked dates on arrival, any additional days are to be paid on collection. Bookings are not considered confirmed until after deposit has been received.
8. CANCELLATION POLICY
All deposits for Peak Season bookings are refundable if we receive your cancellation before 1st November, less an administration fee of $40. Cancellations made after 1st November will forfeit the full deposit paid.
Payment for your pet(s) stay is required in full before we will release them to you. Payment by cash, EFTPOS or Credit Card (Please note that credit card transactions will incour a 3% surcharge). If your payment is dishonored an administration fee of 10% of the amount owed will apply.
A discount may apply, provided this is confirmed at the time of booking. Discounts are not available during Peak Season or in addition to any other special offer or promotion. Special promotions may only be redeemed by the grantee.
Pets left at Southern Comfort Kennels for 14 days in excess of the agreed date of departure without any contact from the pet’s owner or their representative will be classed as abandoned and removed to an official establishment for this purpose. It is the pet owner’s responsibility to ensure that they communicate any unexpected delays to us. Any outstanding accounts will be pursued in full and you agree to pay any collection and legal/enforcement costs we incur.
12. Sharing Kennels
During the Peak Season and busy periods pets may be required to share kennels and enclosures due to high demand. If we believe it is necessary to isolate your pet(s) for any reason, then this decision will be at our discretion.
Southern Comfort Kennels will occasionally take photographs of their kennels and cattery and these may be used for promotional purposes or to update you on how your pet is keeping. We reserve the right to use these images without payment of royalties and at our discretion, which may include our website, social media or in print.
14. Vehicles & Property
Pet owners should exercise care and caution whilst on our property and extend the usual courtesy to other pet owners and their pets especially when they are operating their vehicles, to ensure vehicles, pets or property are not harmed or lost. However, Southern Comfort Kennels accepts no responsibility for any such loss, harm or damage.
15. PRIVACY & LEGAL POLICIES
Our website contains information which has been obtained through other sources of media. We willingly use these images and information with the up most respect and regard to those people responsible for producing it and endeavour to credit all those responsible. If for any reason you think we may have overlooked credit where it may be due please contact us and let us know. We regard all images and information provided to us to be true and correct and rely on our sources to be honest and open with any content that we may decide to use.
