Board your cat or dog with us in our very popular kennels and cattery while you move to your new country. You let us know when you are ready to fly your furry friends! A MAF affiliated vet comes to our kennels and cattery daily for vet export requirements which means less transporting and stress on your cat or dog.
Australia
We collect your cat or dog from your residence and;
- On fly them to Australia the same day if you have completed your own export certificate.
- Collect from your home the day prior, complete the export certificate for you, board your pet for the night and on fly the next day (usually a morning flight)
- Collect and board your pet until you are ready to fly them over.
New Zealand Destinations
- Pick up and fly the same day
- Collect and board your pet until you are ready for them.
Other Countries
The following countries and others have varying permits and vet requirements to obtain a MAF Export Health Certificate; England, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and other EU countries, Canada, America, South Africa and Asia Please contact us for further information.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my cat or dog travel on the same flight as us?
In most cases yes although not all airlines transport animals, please check with us before you book your own flight.
Will my cat or dog have food & water on the flight?
All travel cages have a water container and a funnel on the outside so this can be refilled on transit stops but no food. Pets travel better on an empty stomach.
Is there any quarantine at the other end?
If all the MAF requirements have been met in New Zealand there is no quarantine required when you land in your new country.
Does my cat or dog get sedated?
In most cases no unless your vet has prescribed it. "Rescue Remedy" is good for helping calm a stressed cat or dog.
How far ahead do I need to book my pet's flight?
Most airlines require at least 7 days notice.
What can our pet take with them?
We use newspaper to line the bottom of the crate however a fleece or old 't-shirt' from home is comforting without taking up valuable space. Toys and food bowls cannot be transported in your pet's crate.
Can I use my own cage?
For the safety of your pet it must meet the IATA standards (International Air Transport Association) Crates must be plastic or wooden crates must be 12mm thick. We have both these cages available.
Is my pet going to be ok while boarding with you?
Southern Comfort Kennels and Cattery is one of the most popular boarding facilities in Auckland. We have a very professional staff who will take the utmost care of your pet's. You are more than welcome to inspect our facilities.
